INTRODUCTION TO SAP

SAP

(SYSTEMS APPLICATIONS AND PRODUCTS FOR DATA PROCESSING)

SAP developed by five IBM employees in 1992 and designed in SAP AG(AG means Ltd) company in Germany.
·        Before SAP, people used to do IBM Mainframe

This sap is completely developed and we have to customize what ever we want.

There are two types in SAP
They are :         1. FUNCTIONAL,
                        2. TECHNICAL

1.      FUNCTIONAL:

Functional has :             SD (sales and distribution)
                        MM (material management)
                        FI/CO(Finance and controls),

2. TECHNICAL.

Technical has :  ABAP or Core ABAP,
                                    CROSS APPLICATIONS,
                                    NETWEAVER.

·                                            Total SAP applications are developed under ABAP programming.
·                                            ABAP language developed based on ‘C’ language.
·                                            CROSS Applications are used to communicate the distributed business systems
·                                            In case of other ERP’s the developed was done up to 30% only the remaining will be done using the special tools provided by SAP.
·                                            But incase of SAP is completely developed so we have to customize the predefined thing like applications and tables.
·                                            To implement the ERP for a business organization it takes 14 to 27 months.
·                                            We can implement SAP in all departments of an organization so it is most popular ERP in the market.
·                                            In case of NON-ERP’s everything we have to develop from scratch
·                                            JDEDWARDS is best for vendor (manufacturing) because it contains maximum numbers of vendor tables and applications.
